Carrot Cake 7-17-20
Late edition this week. Sometimes life gets in the way of my best intentions.
This week’s recs:
Instagram account to follow:
@werenotreallystrangers
I recently added instagram back to my phone last week. I’m sure I will delete it again next week, but for now, this is a cool account to follow. They post screenshots of thought provoking quotes. They also sell a card game meant to be played with a group of people that forces you to ask each other deep questions. Haven’t ventured there yet. A sample: “What insecurity of yours holds you back the most?”
I have added and deleted instagram many times from my phone. It mostly makes me feel shitty when I watch everyone else’s highlight reel. Depending on my mindset at the time of scroll, sometimes I will think, “wow, all of these people are having so much fun or doing cool shit while I sit here and be me.”
My favorite parenting tool
A decent stroller. Even though my kids are both three years old and their legs work beautifully, it is so nice to push them in a stroller. Fresh air, Dad controls the pace, kids enjoy it, people are contained and can’t run into traffic, etc. If I am outnumbered by my kids, tossing them in a stroller and finding a shady loop to walk is a great way for me to take a few breaths and try to slow things down a bit. Get one with big rubber tires. I know EVERYONE NEEDS an Uppa baby (we have one too), but grab something that can smash over bumps and cracks if you decide to run behind it.
Some music
My friend Maureen (friend of the cake) suggested a couple of songs performed by Tyler Childers that are lights out.

Questions:
Do you have any songs or artists that are blowing your mind right now?
Is there anyone in your life that you really appreciate that might now know it?
Why don’t you tell them?
What activities should we build our lives around for the foreseeable future? Seems like we won’t be hanging out in bars or going to concerts anytime soon. What’s the list of things that you plan to do instead?
How are you doing, really?
Love you all, hope you are hanging in.
