At 4:40p on Tuesdays I make the risky right hand turn onto Murphy Memorial Drive. The turn is risky because The Murph is narrow at the mouth and you come in too hot after exiting the Sea Street racetrack. I sneak a glance at Grumpy White’s [closed permanently] and daydream about the hundreds of buffalo chicken sandwiches that I got rid of inside those walls.
wonderful! A lot of your tips can be applied teachers of any craft! I know- cause I teach art to little ones. There is nothing that matters more than making personal connections, jumping in show a kid how to hold a paint brush correctly ( in my case anyway) and then letting it go if they choose not too try it, meeting each one where they are, letting them get silly, then pulling them back in - they’re kids!
“I can still remember kind things and shitty things that coaches said to me as a child.” I was in high school but I’ll never forget “Nicky Comeau if I stuck a qtip in one of your ears it would come out the other side” 40 years later. 🤦🏼♀️ (And you know if you ever open a gym and start coaching again I’ll be your first customer!) Good stuff!
Kudos to you for making a difference in kids' lives. Sometimes a sincere "Well done” can mean so much.
